Preparing for your Session - Mobile, Alabama Boudoir Photographer

There actually isn’t very much you need to do to prepare for your session, but let’s talk about the things that you should do!

  1. Gather your outfits!

This is something I can definitely help with, if needed. You can purchase the personal shopper add-on and save a ton of time OR you can always message me for advice and send me photos of the outfits you’ve chosen to get my opinion. You only need two outfits if you plan to go nude at the end, but three if you are unsure about going nude. My biggest recommendation is to go with different styles for each outfit. Casual (tank top and undies with long socks), a bodysuit, bra and panty sets are the most recommended styles. I prefer that you stay away from baby doll style outfits, but I understand that some women really like that style so I won’t refuse to shoot it. They just really aren’t my preference!

2. Get your fingernails and toenails done!

I do a lot of detail shots, so even if it’s just a little paint, it goes a long way when it comes to all the small details in your images. A lot of women don’t think about this, but I do highly recommend it!

DSC_9785 copy.jpg

3. If you do not usually spray tan, DO NOT DO IT before your session.

Spray tans are not my favorite thing to photograph to be completely honest. They tend to look very orange and can be very difficult to edit. I much prefer the look of your natural skin in images. If you are used to getting spray tans and prefer the way you look with them then go ahead and do it. However, if spray tanning is not part of your normal routine, you will not like the way your images turn out and I ask that you stay far away!

4. Plan for a long day on the day of your session!

From start to finish, your experience is about a 5.5 hour day. This includes hair and makeup, the session, same day basic edits (skin retouching done on purchased images only), and your same day Viewing and Ordering. It’s best to not make any extra plans the day of your session so that it isn’t rushed!

Things to expect on the day of your session:

Once you arrive to the studio, you will meet me (or my associate photographer, Alma) and my amazing makeup artist Georgette! If I am your photographer for the day, you will most likely also meet my sister-in-law/editor/assistant/social media manager, Ariel. Haha. After meeting all of us, you will sit down and Georgette will get started on your hair and makeup. She will generally ask you colors of your outfits and what kind of makeup look you would prefer (dramatic, natural, or somewhere in-between).

Once that is done, we will go through your outfits to see what looks best and decide which order we want to shoot them it. I also have a client lingerie closet with some options for you as well.

The general flow of a session is that we start off with the least revealing outfit and work our way down with most women going nude for the final outfit change (highly encouraged, but not required)!

After that, you can hang out with us or go get food while we edit (this takes about 1.5 hours).

Once the editing is done, we will view your images in a slideshow and then we will go through and rate them. This helps us get a better idea as to what products/Collection would be the best fit for you!

That’s about it! Nothing too crazy to worry about prior to your session! The most important thing is showing up. If you can do that, you will rock your session no matter what!

The Products We Offer - Mobile, Alabama Boudoir Photographer

We offer so many beautiful products and I just want to tell you a little bit more about them!

Our gorgeous leather albums are the most popular product we offer!

They are beautifully handcrafted with premium leather and thick pages. Our clients love being able to flip through their beautiful albums with ease to be reminded of the amazing self-love experience they had with us.

Not to mention, the quality of the images in the album itself are AMAZING and these albums are built to last a lifetime!

Metal Wall Art

Our metal wall art is the second most popular product we offer and a personal favorite of mine!

The colors of your boudoir images look absolutely stunning on metal. These are a beautiful way to display your favorite image(s).

A lot of women that come to us are worried about hanging boudoir images on their walls, but we give plenty of less revealing images to display on wall art as well.

There is nothing better than waking up and being constantly reminded of the beautiful woman that you are!

Glass or Wooden Heirloom Boxes

These boxes are great if you want loose prints versus a bound album. Our boxes include a few more images than what would be included in an album as well.

Both of the boxes that we offer are handcrafted and are so beautiful!

Our Add-On Products

We offer a few different products that our clients love to add-on to their Collections!

Our Acrylic Block and Bedside Folio are perfect display pieces if you aren’t interested in something as large as our wall art.

We also offer a Calendar and our super adorable Viewfinder (both super popular add-ons)!

Our calendars are super high-quality with thick pages and large images. These aren’t like the calendars you buy from a store!

Quick reminder that you do NOT need anyone to gift these products to. Gift them to yourself! You are worth it!

Top 5 Reasons Women Tell Me They Cannot Book a Boudoir Session:

  1. “I need to lose weight first.”

- First, there is NOTHING wrong with wanting to lose weight and get healthier. However, that does not mean you HAVE to lose weight before doing your boudoir session with us! It is important to love your body every step of the way. It is okay to feel beautiful and confident at ANY size. Don’t let the number on the scale hold you back from doing amazing things! Self-love is a journey and losing weight isn’t necessarily going to cure the way you feel about your body. A boudoir session with us can be a very helpful thing on your journey to self-love.

2. “I don’t have anyone to give the images to.”

-A ton of my clients are either single or divorced. However, most of my clients that are NOT single still tell me that they are doing this more for themselves than their significant other. A boudoir session if more than just a gift to someone else. It is a gift to YOU. I encourage all of my clients to come into this for themselves first and anyone else second. Does a beautiful leather album make a wonderful gift? Absolutely! The gift is being able to flip through that album and reminding yourself that you are a BEAUTIFUL GODDESS THAT DESERVES EVERYTHING GOOD IN LIFE. It is time to celebrate YOU.

3. “I don’t look like the women on your website/portfolio.”

-Do you know how many of my clients have told me this EXACT same thing? Almost ALL of them. I guarantee you will look and feel exactly like the clients in my portfolio if you give us a chance. I shoot women of all sizes and ages! I’ve had clients in their 60s who have NEVER done anything like this in their life come out feeling amazing. My clients are every day women just like you that just so happened to trust us!

4. “I’m not confident enough for something like this.”

-That’s exactly what we are here for! Confidence isn’t needed to book your boudoir session. Confidence comes AFTER your boudoir session. Life is about taking chances and stepping out of your comfort zone. You don’t have to have ANY experience with posing or makeup or anything like that. We take care of hair and makeup and I guide you through every single pose during your session. You don’t have to worry about a single thing because we are here to make sure you look your absolute BEST!

5. “It’s too expensive.”

-This one we hear a LOT. I get it. I do. An experience like this is definitely an investment. There are PLENTY of cheaper photographers out there, but when booking a session such as boudoir, this is not something you want just any photographer doing for you. I cannot tell you how many times that I have had women come into my studio and tell me about previous horrible experiences that they have had or family members have had with cheaper boudoir photographers. I have specialized in boudoir for 3 years now. Boudoir is literally the ONLY thing I have photographed for THREE years and my associate photographer is trained by me (and I only hire the best), so we’ve GOT YOU. We know what we are doing and we will make sure that you feel truly beautiful and confident after a session with us. INVEST IN YOURSELF, LADIES. You cannot put a price tag on self-confidence. We also offer a few ways to make this experience more affordable. We offer pre-session and post-session payment plans as well as accept PayPal Credit.

Why I Shoot Boudoir - Mobile, Alabama Boudoir Photographer

It’s time for me to be vulnerable

There are many reasons I shoot boudoir.

Let me start from the beginning…

I have ALWAYS loved photography. Even as a child, I would constantly take photos of everything with my little “point-and-shoot” camera. I then got my very first DSLR on my 15th birthday and fell in love more.

As much as I loved it, I didn’t believe I could make a career out of it.

I was in college as a pre-med student with intentions on pursuing a surgical career. That had always been my goal. However, this all changed when I had my daughter. I quickly realized that it wasn’t the life for me. I dropped out 2 weeks into my junior year of college and decided to pursue my passion of photography.

I started out shooting EVERYTHING and I learned that I did NOT enjoy shooting everything.

This is when I discovered boudoir. I was a bit hesitant to try it out because I have always been a very modest person, so it frightened me a little due to how vulnerable this genre is. Sexuality has always been a tough topic for me and I’m not entirely sure why.

But the best things happen when you step out of your comfort zone. Once I did a few sessions, it just clicked with me. I fell in LOVE with boudoir.

Boudoir is LIFE-CHANGING for women. Seeing the changes in a woman after a session is the BEST feeling.

Every woman that comes to my studio has some sort of insecurity.

They walk in feeling like they aren’t beautiful enough for photos like this. They feel like their images can’t POSSIBLY compare to the other women in my portfolio.

Then once they view their images, those negative things go away. They are finally able to see themselves as beautiful and worthy.

Don’t get me wrong, boudoir is NOT a cure-all, BUT it is a step in the direction to self-love and acceptance.

It shows women that they are BEAUTIFUL and PERFECT despite their age, size, stretch marks, scars, cellulite, disability, etc.

I, myself, have struggled HARD with self-love.

Some things are so deeply ingrained that it can be difficult to change those negative thoughts. I was bullied as a child and some things just stick with you. Boudoir helps to dispel your negative self-talk because you are able to see yourself in a whole new way.

Self-love doesn’t happen overnight. It is a journey and sometimes is a long one. Our bodies change constantly. We gain weight, we lose weight, we age, we have surgeries, we get injuries, we have children, etc.

Boudoir isn’t just sexy photos for you significant other.

It is much, much more than that. It’s great if you want it to be a gift, but it is ALWAYS about the woman first. Boudoir is about being empowered, about embracing your sexuality, and about loving yourself the way that you are.

I shoot boudoir because it gives my life meaning.

Being able to help a woman on her journey to self-love is the BEST feeling in the world. If I can make a woman more confident in her body and herself then I feel that I am making a difference. It may be small in the grand scheme of things, but being able to make a positive impact on someone’s life no matter how small is meaningful.

We are given one body. Take care of it and love yourself.

This is me.

C and K Couple's Session - Mobile, Alabama Boudoir Photographer

"My husband and I booked a couples session...In 2017! After Cheyanne having her baby, Tropical Storm Nate hitting, and us having our baby...I finally got into her studio a little over a year later. I was nervous because I wasn't quite where I wanted to be, weight wise, after having my third baby. And the freaking post office held the lingerie that I ordered hostage. BUT...her and Georgette were amazing to work with! I was glad my hubs was there with me. He really helped settle my nerves. We laughed through most of it, got a good workout in doing the poses, and the end products absolutely speak for themselves! Cheyanne made us feel so comfortable and I'd absolutely book with her again! Worth every penny!"

Miss L's Boudoir Session - Mobile, Alabama Boudoir Photographer

"Cheyanne and her whole team are amazing.

They make you feel comfortable right off the bat. Like it's no big deal to look sexy in front of a camera. It was a big deal to me.

Over the years of gaining weight from 2 babies I had lost my self-confidence. I would workout for a little while and find some but it never lasted.

A few years back I had been doing really well and was at a good place physically. Then pain struck and within 2 weeks I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was chair bound for 6 months. I lost so much weight. All the muscles I worked so hard to get, were gone. Atrophied. After getting my meds right I went into remission. Thank God!

I was able to work out again. But I also ate too much and gained a lot. Having my shoot got my confidence back on track. I was shocked when I viewed my pictures. It didn't even look like me.

Cheyanne is so talented and will not ever pose you in any pose that's less than flattering. I cannot wait to do another shoot and add to my collection. I had a blast!"

Nude Body Positivity Project - Mobile, Alabama Boudoir Photographer

I had an idea and I've wanted to do it for a while, so I gathered some brave ladies together and shot a nude body positivity project!

I know, I know. OMG nipples! Etc.

My goal with this project was to keep it very simple and unposed with zero skin retouching.

I do wish I had more diversity for this project, but it was a difficult thing to gather women willing to allow their nudes on the internet. Especially unretouched and unposed.

However, I believe I want to make this an on-going project. So, if you are reading this and want to be a part of this on-going project, email me at with the subject "BODY POSITIVE"!

As a boudoir photographer, I want women of ALL ages and ALL sizes to feel beautiful and confident in this very moment. We only have ONE body. We should LOVE it at every stage!

Our bodies are unique to us.

Our bodies tell the stories of our lives.

Some bodies carry babies.

Some bodies birth babies.

Some bodies nurse babies.

Some bodies grow.

Some bodies shrink.

All bodies get injured somehow.

All bodies age.

All bodies change. All. The. Time.

ALL bodies are BEAUTIFUL!

You are beautiful the way you are RIGHT NOW. It's okay to want to lose or gain weight. It's okay to want or get plastic surgery. It's okay to want scars removed or covered up somehow. It's okay to do things that make you feel more comfortable with yourself, but that does NOT mean you HAVE to change or that you shouldn't love yourself and feel beautiful the way you are now. Stop looking in the mirror and picking yourself a part. Start looking in the mirror and telling yourself that you're the beautiful, confident woman that you ARE!

Do. Not. Allow. Other. People's. Opinions. Affect. You.

I know that is easier said than done. Believe me, I GET IT. Some people are cruel and live to tear others down. That's why I have such a passion for what I do. I've been there. I've hated everything about myself in the past.

My forehead is too big. My lips are too small. My freckles are ugly. I'm too pale. My eyebrows are too thick. My boobs are too small. I'm too thin. I'm too this or I'm too that.

These are the things that ran through my head daily growing up. Mostly because of cruel people.

I covered my face with bangs and freaked out EVERY time the wind blew. I even thought my now husband would think I was ugly if he ever saw my forehead. We started dating when I was 14. I am now 23. I plucked my eyebrows until there was barely anything left. I changed the things that I could and hated the things that I couldn't.

THEN my body changed after I had my daughter and changed a little bit more after my son. Stretch marks, loose skin, weight gain, muscle separation, changing breasts, etc. I would be LYING if I said I didn't struggle daily with loving this new body. But I try. I try hard. You get so used to seeing yourself one way and then once it changes, you have to learn to love yourself this new way. I Get. It.

Self-love is work. HARD WORK.

It's a never-ending journey, really.

We grow and we change and we have to continue to learn how to love ourselves everyday.

Just promise yourself that you will try!

I asked these ladies WHY they wanted to be a part of this wonderful project and you can read their answers below.

DSC_1905 copy.jpg
DSC_1908 copy.jpg
"I wanted to be a part of this shoot because I am insecure about my body. Growing up, I was a skinny kid. I could eat anything and everything without a worry in the world, and now I have to watch what I eat. It is nice to know that I am not alone and that there are other people like me who are struggling with insecurities. I just want people to know beauty comes in all different shapes and sizes and that it is ok to be different."
DSC_1910 copy.jpg
DSC_1912 copy.jpg
"I wanted to participate in this session for many reasons but one primarily. I work with women every single day that are self-conscious to an unhealthy level and I spend a lot of our time together reinforcing that beauty comes in many shapes, forms, sizes and colors. I don't think that there is a single woman on the planet that isn't insecure about some part of her body- but the key to security is embracing the curves and quirks that are unique to us. There's no better way to say, "I believe what I'm telling you," than to strip down and be vulnerable myself."
DSC_1915 copy.jpg
DSC_1917 copy.jpg
"There are so many reasons for me to do this. I see too many women tearing each other down. For everything. Fat, skinny, muscles, hair, teeth. I want to raise my sons to be loving and accepting of all people. I am learning to love all of me, all the time. Not just when I feel pretty or skinny. My husband is a great source of support and loves me for who I am and I want to do the same. I am thankful for the opportunity to do this to help all women see their beauty."
DSC_1920 copy.jpg
DSC_1924 copy.jpg
"I wear makeup so little that when I do put it on I feel like I'm playing dress up. But I'm 46 years old and it's getting harder for me to accept my reflection. And I feel like I should want to wear makeup and color my hair and "keep myself up" because that's what all my friends do. Women seem to feel most vulnerable in their natural state, which is naked and makeup free. Naked and Afraid is cliche but it fits what I'm trying to say. And if one woman reads the blog and decides to spend less time in the mirror or dressing room and more time enjoying her own reflection, then these efforts will not have been in vain."
DSC_1927 copy.jpg
DSC_1931 copy.jpg
"I chose to do these pictures because we are all beautiful, no matter shape or size. Us women need to empower each other instead of bringing one another down. I have always been self conscious and I definitely came out of my shell today! Cheyanne is amazing!!"
DSC_1935 copy.jpg
DSC_1941 copy.jpg
"I wanted to be a part of this to show my daughters that they are beautiful. That every woman is. I also wanted to push past my boundaries and out of my comfort zone. I wanted the opportunity to be a part of something where women are building one another up. We need more of that in the world."
DSC_1945 copy.jpg
DSC_1949 copy.jpg
"I have health issues and I'm on 15 different meds and I can't afford all of them. I was with my ex husband for 21 years and I almost died and he lied and cheated. He would call me names and belittle me! I had to love myself. I lost 75 pounds and gained it back because I can't afford my medicine. But I want my daughter and all women to know that we are all beautiful just the way we are. It's not just our looks that make us beautiful. It's our hearts, our minds, our passion for life, and how we treat people. I also want my son not to be a sexist pig! I want him to see the beauty in every woman and treat everyone with love and respect."
